This chapter explores the mechanisms that regulate Purkinje cell (PC) neurogenesis, revealing the finely timed contribution of many regulatory genes in the control of PC progenitor specification, proliferation, subtype differentiation, migration, and survival from the cerebellar primordium to the end of prenatal embryogenesis, discussing some of the key molecules involved and the ways they combine to generate the complex adult cerebellar architecture.
