In this chapter we provide a brief and schematic description of the main conditions that cause acute abdomen. We present, according to an evidence-based approach, the operative and conservative management of sigmoid volvulus, acute cholecystitis, acute colonic diverticulitis, acute appendicitis, and complication of abdominal wall hernias. Considering the high frequency of their presentation we included also the anorectal emergency.
