This chapter discusses the connection between technological innovations and pedagogical approaches in the field of Language Teaching and Learning (LT&L) and reviews some of the emerging trends and recent developments in LT&L subfields and higher-education institutions globally. It explains the rationale for the global perspective attempted, collecting the voices of language practitioners from fourteen different countries dealing with a variety of languages, and for subsuming the diverse aspects of developments under four broad themes, namely learner engagement, Language for Specific Purposes (LSP), language assessment, and language teacher education. All contributions establish a mosaic of the global response to a fast-evolving situation that requires language educators to find solutions, first, into remote online teaching and then, into generative Artificial Intelligence (GenAI), and should be seen as a resource that LT&L practitioners can draw from in the future.

Abstract
This chapter discusses the connection between technological innovations and pedagogical approaches in the field of Language Teaching and Learning (LT&L) and reviews some of the emerging trends and recent developments in LT&L subfields and higher-education institutions globally. It explains the rationale for the global perspective attempted, collecting the voices of language practitioners from fourteen different countries dealing with a variety of languages, and for subsuming the diverse aspects of developments under four broad themes, namely learner engagement, Language for Specific Purposes (LSP), language assessment, and language teacher education. All contributions establish a mosaic of the global response to a fast-evolving situation that requires language educators to find solutions, first, into remote online teaching and then, into generative Artificial Intelligence (GenAI), and should be seen as a resource that LT&L practitioners can draw from in the future.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
