Within the Surveillance, Epidemiology, and End Results database, we evaluated cancer-specific mortality (CSM) in 595 patients with T1-4N0M0 small-cell carcinoma of the urinary bladder according to treatments: chemotherapy, chemotherapy + radical cystectomy, and chemotherapy + radiation therapy. Relative to chemotherapy, patients treated with chemotherapy + radical cystectomy experienced lower CSM. Conversely, patients treated with chemotherapy + radiation therapy did not exhibit any CSM benefit.
