Abstract

There is a long and complex relationship between philosophical ethics and theology. In ancient and medieval times, philosophical ethics was often perceived as a threat to religion. Socrates is a case in point. Yet Christianity introduced a constructive dialogue between Logos and Revelation. During modernity, the dialectic between reason and faith has generated three lines of confrontation: liberal separation, convergence with conflict, and degeneration. The present situation is plagued by the last, but there are signs of rehabilitation of the convergence between reason and faith
