Abstract: The contribution offers a critical reflection on Valentina Gentile’s book, Liberty with Religions, which analyzes the role of religious reasons in public debate between Rawlsian and post-Rawlsian approaches. Gentile compares egalitarian separatism and inclusive pluralism, discussing the limits of both and proposing a vision of public reason that includes religions without undermining liberal principles. The contribution highlights the difficulty of overcoming the Rawlsian paradigm and the tension between the need for political stability and the recognition of religious diversity.
