The aim of the present study is to analyze dental preparations field on the whole. In particular, periodontal involvements and biomechanical features are discussed. Moreover, the new problem on modern adhesive techniques arrival and new materials introduction are discussed focusing on the question about the maintenance of classical dental preparations fees or their possible modifications. Conclusions are that our cultural heritage on prosthodontics is still valid and essential, even if modern dentistry innovations facilitated professional operativity.
