The essay departs from two questions concerning the relationship between behaviour and the existence of norms: how can the existence of norms condition behaviour? And, symmetrically, how can behaviour condition the existence of norms? The inquiry into nomotropism has contributed to answering the first question. The second question, in turn, sheds light on two fields of phenomena: nomotrophic behaviours, directed at preserving the vitality of a norm, and nomogenic behaviours, which generate new norms. Starting from this second question, the hypothesis arises that there are forms of “antinomogenic” behaviour, a form of nomotropism in which action is directed at hindering the possible genesis of a norm.
