Drawing on the phenomenological and technical distinction between a portrait and an identikit, this essay introduces the reader to a phenomenology and an ontology of uniqueness, which translate the undeniable intuitions of few classics of individuality’s metaphysics – such as Duns Scoto, Leibniz, Scheler – into the analytic language of contemporary philosophy, without losing the required formal rigour.
