The chief aim of this study is to explore the interplay of Origen of Alexandria with the Pythagoreanism. In this regard, three are the main parts of this research. Firstly, it offers an overview of the Pythagorical philosophy in the early imperial era, with focus on the so called "Neo-Pythagoreanism" and the reception of the Pythagorical tradition in the early Christian Alexandria. Secondly, a particular attention is devoted to Origen's approach to some core theories of the Pythagoreans, especially the protology, the cosmology, and the numerology. The last part of this study is entirely dedicated to Origen's explicit references to Pythagoras and the Pythagoreans, in particular Numenius of Apamaea.

Abstract
The chief aim of this study is to explore the interplay of Origen of Alexandria with the Pythagoreanism. In this regard, three are the main parts of this research. Firstly, it offers an overview of the Pythagorical philosophy in the early imperial era, with focus on the so called "Neo-Pythagoreanism" and the reception of the Pythagorical tradition in the early Christian Alexandria. Secondly, a particular attention is devoted to Origen's approach to some core theories of the Pythagoreans, especially the protology, the cosmology, and the numerology. The last part of this study is entirely dedicated to Origen's explicit references to Pythagoras and the Pythagoreans, in particular Numenius of Apamaea.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
