The article analyzes Daniele Lorenzini’s interpretation of Michel Foucault’s political thought in The Force of Truth, and especially the nature and scope of its attempt to defend Foucault from the recurring accusations of postmodern relativism and lack of normative strength. The article focuses in particular on two topics. Firstly, it discusses Lorenzini’s account of the articulation between games of truth and regimes of truth, trying to reconstruct the theoretical strategy behind it. Secondly, it analyzes the suggestion to connect, via Stanley Cavell, Foucault’s genealogical method with John Austin’s theory of speech acts. In its conclusions, it dwells on the sense in which Foucault’s genealogies can be said to have an immanent (historical) kind of normative force.

Abstract
In its conclusions, it dwells on the sense in which Foucault’s genealogies can be said to have an immanent (historical) kind of normative force.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
